Wichita rug cleaning, tailored to every rug

Why clean your rugs

A clean rug does more than look good

Your rugs catch what comes in on every shoe and paw, and what settles out of the air. A professional clean gives back a lot more than a fresh look.

  • Cleaner air at home

Rugs act like a filter, trapping dust, pollen and other airborne pollutants. A deep clean clears them out, so your rug can keep catching them instead of holding on to them.

  • A healthier place to play

Spills, accidents and damp soil let allergens and bacteria build up deep in the pile. Regular cleaning helps keep that buildup away from the rug your kids and pets love most.

  • A longer life for your rug

Most rug soil is dry grit, and every footstep grinds it into the fibers. Getting it out slows the wear, and once it’s clean, regular vacuuming keeps it that way longer.

  • Colors and softness, back

Spots, spills and the dull film of everyday soil lift away, so the pattern looks brighter and the pile feels soft underfoot again.

How we clean your rug

Five careful steps, fringe to fringe

Every rug gets the same careful process, adjusted for what it’s made of. Step through it to see what happens, from the first look to the final groom.

Before we start

A close look before anything gets wet

We start by looking your rug over with you: what it’s made of and how it was made, how its colors, edges and fringe are holding up, and the spots or smells that need extra attention. Then we confirm your price and what to expect, so there are no surprises.

  • Fibers and how the rug is made
  • Colors, edges and fringe
  • Spots, stains and odors to target

Get the grit out first

Most of the soil in a rug is dry grit that settles deep in the pile, where every footstep grinds it against the fibers. A meticulous professional vacuuming pulls it out before any water goes in, so the deep clean isn’t just turning dirt into mud.

  • Meticulous professional vacuuming
  • Grit pulled from deep in the pile
  • Dry soil out before the wet clean

Spots and stains, pre-treated

Spills, pet spots and dull traffic paths get treated before the main clean, with eco-friendly solutions suited to your rug’s fibers and dyes. They loosen what’s stuck, so the deep clean can carry it away without harsh scrubbing.

  • Food and drink spills
  • Pet spots and traffic paths
  • Eco-friendly, fiber-friendly solutions

Tailored to your rug

A deep clean, matched to your rug

Then the deep clean itself: the right solution and the right amount of moisture for your rug’s fibers and colors, rinsed and extracted so the dirt, residue and odors leave with the water. Thorough on dirt, and gentle on your rug.

  • Matched to the fibers and colors
  • Rinsed and extracted thoroughly
  • Gentle on the rug’s integrity

Protector optional

Deodorize, groom and protect

Our deodorizer neutralizes lingering odors instead of covering them up. Then we groom the pile so it dries soft and even, and add protector if you’d like help resisting future spills. Before we go, we’ll tell you how to help it dry and when it’s ready for feet and furniture.

  • Odors neutralized, not covered up
  • Pile groomed soft and even
  • Optional rug protector

Know your rug

Every rug, cleaned for what it’s made of

What your rug is made of, and how it was made, decides how it should be cleaned. Here’s what to know about the most common kinds.

Wool & Oriental-style

Persian and Oriental-style rugs, hand-knotted or machine-made wool

Wool is naturally tough and hides soil well, which is why a wool rug can look fine while it’s full of grit. It’s also sensitive: heat, harsh cleaners and too much water can make dyes bleed or the wool shrink.

What it needs

  • Gentle solutions suited to wool
  • Careful, controlled moisture
  • A prompt, thorough dry

Care tipVacuum it often, but keep the beater bar off the fringe.

Synthetic & machine-made

Nylon, polyester and polypropylene (olefin) rugs

Durable, colorfast and easy to live with, synthetics are the hardest-working rugs in most homes. Their weak spot is oily soil: it clings to the fibers, dulls the color and attracts more dirt.

What it needs

  • A thorough deep clean and rinse
  • Traffic paths and spots pre-treated
  • Optional protector against spills

Care tipBlot spills right away. Rubbing spreads them, especially oily ones.

Hand-tufted & hooked

Plush rugs with a cloth backing, and looped hooked rugs

Tufted rugs can look handmade, but their yarn is held in place with latex glue under a cloth backing. Too much water or the wrong cleaner can weaken that backing or bring out a musty smell, and odors trapped in the latex are very hard to remove.

What it needs

  • The backing checked first
  • Just enough moisture, no more
  • A thorough, even dry

Care tipUse a rug pad: it protects the backing and keeps the rug from creeping.

Cotton, flatweave & braided

Kilims, dhurries, cotton runners, rag and braided rugs

Light, often reversible and easy to love. But cotton can shrink or brown when it stays wet too long, and the bright dyes in many flatweaves can run if a rug is over-wetted.

What it needs

  • Colors looked over before cleaning
  • Gentle, controlled moisture
  • A flat, even dry

Care tipFlip and rotate it now and then so it wears evenly.

Delicate & natural fibers

Silk, viscose (“art silk”), jute, sisal, seagrass and antiques

These need the lightest touch of all. Plant fibers like jute and sisal can brown or water-stain, viscose weakens and yellows when it’s wet, and an antique can be fragile. Tell us what you have, and we’ll tell you honestly what’s possible before any work begins.

What it needs

  • An honest look first
  • A light, careful touch where it’s safe
  • A straight answer if it isn’t

Care tipBlot spills dry with a white cloth. Never scrub or soak these fibers.

FAQ

Your rug questions, answered

Straight answers to what people ask us most about their rugs. Don’t see yours? Give us a call.

Do you clean rugs in my home?

Yes. We clean area rugs right in your home, and if your carpet needs a clean too, we can do both in the same visit. Tell us about your rugs when you reach out, and we’ll let you know what to expect.

Can every rug be cleaned?

Most rugs can, but not every rug the same way, which is why we look yours over first. Delicate fibers like silk, viscose, jute and sisal need a very light touch, and we’ll tell you honestly what’s possible. A few things cleaning can’t undo, like sun fading, dye that has already run or a backing that’s breaking down, and you’ll hear that from us up front.

Will my rug’s colors run?

It’s uncommon when a rug is handled with care, but some dyes, often deep reds and blues, can bleed with too much water, harsh cleaners or slow drying. That’s why we look over your rug’s colors and fibers before we start and choose a gentle approach to match. If a rug looks risky, you’ll know before we clean it, not after.

Can you get pet urine out of a rug?

Often, especially when it’s caught early. Pet urine is acidic and can soak through a rug to its backing, its pad and the floor underneath, so it needs more than a surface clean. Older or repeated accidents can leave a stain or a color change even once the odor is gone, and we’ll tell you straight what to expect. More on pet stain & odor removal.

What about the fringe?

On many handmade rugs, the fringe is the end of the threads the rug is woven on, so it’s part of the rug, not trim. We look it over before we start and treat it gently. Fringe that has yellowed with age may brighten without turning fully white. Between cleanings, keep your vacuum’s beater bar off it.

How long will my rug take to dry?

It depends on the rug’s fibers and thickness, the weather and the airflow in your home, and we’ll let you know what to expect before we start. Keep air moving with fans or your HVAC, and keep feet, pets and furniture off until it’s fully dry. Don’t roll it up or lay it back on a pad or a wood floor while it’s still damp.

How often should I have my rugs cleaned?

It depends on where the rug lives and who walks on it. A rug by the door, under the dining table or in a home with pets and kids needs it more often than one in a guest room. Here’s a quick test: fold back a corner and tap the back of the rug. If grit falls out, it’s time.

How do I care for my rug between cleanings?

Vacuum it regularly, on suction only for shag and near the fringe. Rotate it now and then so it wears evenly, and keep it out of strong, direct sun. Blot spills right away with a clean white cloth, working from the outside in, and never rub. A rug pad helps too: it keeps the rug in place and cushions it against wear.

How much does rug cleaning cost?

It depends on your rug’s size, what it’s made of and its condition, including any stains or pet accidents. You’ll always know your price before any work begins, with no hidden fees. Ask about our military and first responder discounts. Request your quote.

What if I’m not happy with the results?

We don’t consider a job finished until you’re fully satisfied. If you’re not happy for any reason, we’ll redo the cleaning for free.
